3 NEW YEAR DESSERTS EVERYONE WILL LOVE

As you get ready throw the first of many New Year parties, here are some super easy desserts you can make in only a couple of steps. They will look great on your New Year’s party table or get-together nights and taste even better, say the experts here at IKEA!

  1. Triple Fudge Brownies

When your friends see these big creamy brownies, they’ll be surprised that they are so easy to make!

    You will need:
1 package of instant chocolate mix pudding
    1 package chocolate cake mix
    2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
    Confectioners’ sugar

And vanilla ice cream (if you prefer)

    • Prepare the mixes according to the instructions on the boxes, whisk in the dry cake mix and stir in chocolate chips.
    • Pour the mix into a baking dish and bake for about 30-35 mins at 350 degrees.
    • Take it out and dust with confectioners’ sugar! If you like, add scoops of ice cream on top when serving.

  2. Caramel Cashew Cake Pops

Buttery caramel and rich cashews mixed in with chocolate cake – it’s an irresistible mix, and a treat the little ones are sure to love!

    You will need:
    1 package chocolate cake mix
    3/4 cup dulce de leche
    48 lollipop sticks
2-1/2 pounds of milk chocolate candy coating, chopped

    Chopped cashews

    • Following the instructions on the box, prepare and bake the cake mix.
    • Once it’s cooled, crumble the cake into a large bowl. Add the dulce de leche and mix well.
    • Shape into 1-inch balls and place on baking sheets. Poke a lollipop stick through each and freeze for 2 hours or refrigerate for 3 hours until the cake pops are firm.
    • In a microwave, melt candy coating and dip each cake pop in the coating.
    • Coat with cashews and insert into a Styrofoam block (preferably) so they stand till set.

  3. Strawberry ‘Cool’ Brûlée

Quite like an actual creme brûlée but cooler and easier to make. This dessert will look super cute, say we at IKEA, placed in tiny cups for your guests or family.

    You will need:
    2 cups of sliced strawberries
    8 tbsp of raw sugar
    1/2 cup of whipping cream
    1/3 cup of vanilla yoghurt

    • Divide up the strawberries into four 8-ounce dessert dishes. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of the raw sugar over the strawberries in each dish.
    • With an electric mixer, whip the cream to soft peaks. Fold in yoghurt and spread over the strawberries.
    • Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of the remaining raw sugar over each.
    • Cover and chill for 2 to 6 hours.
